Why Now, Why This
To those who still believe in possibility—even in a time when many of us are exhausted, grieving, and quietly getting through—welcome.
I’m Dr. Christian Rummell (he/him). For over two decades, I’ve led research, designed training, and developed inclusive programs that support LGBTQ+ youth. Across classrooms, nonprofits, and national initiatives, one truth about this work has become clear: Allyship is a verb.
It’s not a title, a poster, or a performance. It’s a daily practice. An intentional choice we make again and again. It’s how we show up—especially when it’s hard. Especially now.
We are living through a moment when LGBTQ+ youth are being targeted by legislation, stripped of safe spaces, and made to feel invisible. And many allies—people with good hearts and strong intentions—aren’t always sure what to do.
That’s why I created this space.
What Kind of Community Are We Building?
This isn’t just a newsletter. It’s a practice space—for evolving, empathetic, and vulnerable action.
If you’re someone who:
Mentors, teaches, or works with youth
Wants to better support LGBTQ+ youth
Believes in possibility, belonging, refuge, and hope...
Then Ally:Verb in Action is for you.
What You Can Expect
I’ll post every other Tuesday, and each issue will include:
A short reflection on allyship, hope, supporting young people, or visibility
One practical action you can take that week to support LGBTQ+ youth
A featured resource, organization, or moment of inspiration to deepen your learning
Opportunities to engage, share, and connect with others
Thank you for being here.
You’re part of a community that wants to make a difference for young people. You’re exactly where you’re meant to be.
Here’s to showing up, one action at a time,
Christian
